The Persian-Australian Kelisa congregation at St. David’s Cathedral Hobart is holding a memorial service at 4pm on Friday February 28th for Reza Berati, killed on Manus Island in the recent violence.

Some of the members of Kelisa are from the same region as Mr. Berati and are acquainted with his family. This tragedy is very real for them. This memorial service provides an opportunity for them to express their grief and for us all to pay our respects and honour the memory of this young man. Our hope is to be able to record our sympathies for personal communication to Mr. Berati’s family.

This service will be shaped by the Christian faith of the Kelisa congregation but is open and accessible to all who would like to pay their respects. I encourage you to attend, if you are able, and to invite others to join you.

RSVPs are not necessary, but an indication of your attendance via email to or 0362344900 would help us to make arrangements.
