• John Biggs, in Comments: Thanks so much Simon for drawing attention to this speech by Christine. She has reconnected the present and past beautifully. Pity though she didn’t comment on the 2010 minority govt and following ambiguities. Ambiguous precisely because Labor was basically going ahead in the old way as if it had majority govt dragging the two Cabinetted Greens with them. It sort of worked much of the time, but Labor really hadn’t got out of the old majority way of thinking and meantime the Greens were compromised. Which is precisely what Lennon was hoping for when he suggested McKim join Cabinet. Incidentally, I have to say I was impressed with Christine’s presentation: not lecturing but explaining.
