February 2014 is time for Directions Theatre’s sixteenth Shakespeare in the Gardens. This year the Hobart and Delamere Vineyard stalwarts will stage
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
Director Maeve Mhairi Macgregor knows audiences will love “The Dream” set in “A fantastical universe where magic exists and the 80’s have never ended!”
Four young lovers fly to the woods to escape the perils of Athenian law and end up in a twisted tangle of confused affections, six amateur actors meet in a secret grove to rehearse in earnest; all the while the fairy king and queen wage a war of jealousy and mischief. Whether it’s the meddling fairies, the theatrical antics of Nick Bottom and Peta Quince, the lovers’ haps and mishaps, or the astonishing poetry, be enchanted by this well loved comic masterpiece.
The talent line up includes actors seen in past Shakespeare in the Gardens and some new faces including Tom Hogan, Cambell McKenzie, Karissa Lane, Josh Direen, Justan Wagner, Lucy Devine, Mark Morgan, Sam Lush, Ellen Roe,Chris Forbes, Simone Dobber, Tai Gardner, Breanna Geer, Georgie Perry
