The Treasurer, Joe Hockey, stated in the MYEFO document released yesterday that the new Federal Government will no longer provide funding to the Hobart Light Rail project.

The Liberal Party is happy to back light rail when it suits them, but the disregard shown yesterday makes all the supportive comments meaningless.

The decision reflects very poorly on both the Federal Liberal Government and also the Tasmanian Liberal Party which has said it is more than happy to investigate passenger light rail.

It’s time for the Liberal Party to put its money where its mouth is and send a consistent message on light rail for Hobart. Otherwise what they say is just rubbish.
