“It didn’t take long,” FamilyVoice national research officer Ros Phillips said today. “Just months after the US Supreme Court struck down sections of the US Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as only between a man and a woman, a judge has thrown out part of Utah’s law against polygamy. The judge cited the same kinds of arguments as those promoted by Australian ‘marriage equality’ activists.”
Ros Phillips said last Thursday’s ruling by the Australian High Court (32, 33) has paved the way for similar law changes here. “The Court clearly implied that the meaning of marriage in the Constitution could include polygamy,” Ros Phillips said. “Yet polygamy hurts women and it hurts children.
“This is what happens when you start changing the man-woman meaning marriage has always had, on the ground of ‘equality’ for adults. The right of children to their natural mum and dad, committed for life to each other and to their children, comes off second best.
