Tasmanian company Vos Construction and Joinery Pty Ltd (“Vos”) is delighted to have been named the winner of 2 awards at the Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association (“ASOFIA”) national conference held at Hamilton Island, Queensland on the weekend.
Vos received the following 2013 ASOFIA Awards:
• Interior Fitout Food / Restaurant ($500,001 to $750,000) – Limestone Bar and Grill (Canberra Airport); and
• Tasmanian Interior Fitout of the Year – National Australia Bank (Docklands).
“The Limestone Bar and Grill project was pitted against some of the best fitouts in Australia. We undertake shopfitting work around the country for national and international companies such as Emirates, as in this instance, and it is a real confidence boost to win this award against many mainland competitors. The project and its subcontractors are entirely managed from our office in Kingston along with the joinery component that is manufactured in our factory, which enables us to control the timing of production and first class workmanship. Vos also use Tasmanian manufacturers in most cases for steel and glass works which we regard as very important in making a positive difference to our community. We then fit out the client’s tenancies to their precise specifications in a timely and seamless manner ensuring a high quality end result. Tasmania is still very well regarded for its quality of trades people and management practices and this is great recognition of our talented and dedicated project team”, said Stuart Percey, Manager of Vos Shopfitting.
The joinery package for the new National Australia Bank office in the Melbourne Docklands precinct was a $5 million project for Vos. Yet again, most of the joinery was manufactured in Tasmania and transported to the mainland for installation.
“It was a major project which required substantial resources and a high degree of expertise. We were confronted with many challenges but the end results speak for themselves, said Vos CEO Adrian Bott.
“It is a privilege for Vos to be recognized for these projects. It proves that Tasmanian businesses can be successful against major national players. On the back of receiving eight MBA awards a few weeks ago including the Tasmanian Commercial builder of the year, we are chuffed. It is a real honour to be recognized by leading industry associations, Mr Bott concluded.
