Only the Liberal Party can deliver the stable, majority Government Tasmania so desperately needs, State Liberal Lyons candidate Guy Barnett told over 130 guests who attended his official campaign launch at Longford on October 18.
State Liberal Leader Will Hodgman launched Mr Barnett’s campaign with the former Senator confident the party would win three seats in the electorate at next March’s election.
Mr Barnett said the lack of jobs and cost of living pressures were the two biggest issues raised with him when he has been doorknocking in the electorate.
“Sadly, Tasmania’s economy is flat lining, our unemployment rate is the worst in the nation, the cost of doing business is skyrocketing and many Tasmanians are left with a feeling of hopelessness.
“I want to be part of a Will Hodgman-led majority Liberal Government which will be unashamedly pro-development and pro-jobs. We need a can do attitude which can restore hope and opportunity.
“Minority government just has not worked and only the Liberal Party has vowed not to enter any deals with other parties to govern.
“The success of Eric Hutchinson in winning the Federal seat last month with a swing of more than 11 per cent electorate-wide is a clear sign that the people of Lyons are fed up with the Labor Government hamstrung by the Greens,’’ Mr Barnett said.
