Palmer United Party federal leader Clive Palmer has announced Marti Zucco, candidate for Franklin in Tasmania, will be the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality when the party is successful at the September 7 federal election.
Mr Zucco is the longest serving alderman in Hobart City Council as well as a successful business owner and festival organiser.
Among many other achievements, Mr Zucco was instrumental in securing AFL matches for Hobart and played a prominent role in developing the Taste of Tasmania food festival.
Mr Zucco said he was delighted with his appointment to the portfolio.
“It’s a fantastic honour to be appointed the party’s Shadow Minister for Tourism and Hospitality as I have many years of experience in the fields of marketing, international event organisation and Tasmanian tourism,” Mr Zucco said.
“I was the former chairman of the Tasmanian Convention Bureau and I am passionate about bringing tourism to Australia. I’m thrilled to be able to use my skills and experience in this portfolio and look forward to assisting the hospitality industry.
“We have to bring more tourists to Australia and to do that we must continue to look at innovative concepts and new ways of approaching the challenges in front of us.”
Clive Palmer will be announcing the remaining members of his shadow cabinet over the coming weeks in the lead up to the September 7 federal election.
