We know that there is a significant amount of interest by stakeholders in Tasmania on all things FSC.
We receive communications and queries all the time about governance processes, how the standards work and how stakeholders can actively engage. This is really encouraging, but we need to make sure that we get to as many people at the same time. What is of most concern to FSC is that without the correct information, stakeholders can feel a bit like they’re on a boat drifting, trying to find something to anchor to.
So we’ve thought a lot about how to get the information to you that is unbiased, factual about the scheme and helps people work out how to participate in it.
We have created a series of FAQ’s on the home page of our website and published a significant amount of information about FSC.
See:
http://au.fsc.org.
There’s some great data and fact sheets loaded up, with even monthly statistics uploaded by FSC International.

In addition, we are holding 2 only information sessions about the processes that will soon be commencing that are very separate:
• The certification processes soon to commence or on foot in Tasmania and how to engage in them; and
• The development of the FSC Australian National Forestry Standard
FSC Australia has no role in the Tasmanian Forestry Agreement or in assisting Forestry Tasmania (or any other forestry organisation) to become certified. We are simply the organisation that assists its members to create the standards, and ensures information is available. Decisions are delivered by independent auditors or ‘Certification Bodies’ as to whether foresters are or are not in compliance with the relevant standard.
We wish to ensure that the people in Tasmania are provided with current and up to date information about how to participate in these two separate and distinct processes.
“We are simply wishing to help the people of Tasmania understand how to use the FSC system and help shape the standards. We will have the experts present, and auditors to answer queries on a panel. When people leave the session, they will know where to address their concerns and how to do so to achieve the greatest effect”.
All are welcome to attend, with prior registration required for catering & organisation purposes.
“We need people to register so that we know how many to expect. We will be bringing materials from Melbourne and need to ensure there is room to cater adequately. So please follow the link and register your attendance. Those that are unregistered may be refused entry if the room available or catering will not stretch to accommodate them”.
We encourage anyone with an interest in FSC to attend, whether it be from an economic, social, environmental perspective, or combination of all perspectives….
