KARNIVOOL’S LONG AWAITED THIRD ALBUM “ASYMMETRY”

RELEASED THIS FRIDAY 19th JULY

After 4 years, it’s finally here!

Karnivool have been making a fair old racket in the last few weeks in the lead up to their third album being released worldwide. It’s been hard for them not to be a bit excited, with the time it’s taken between albums and the effort put in by all involved as well as the band finally being able to co-ordinate all international territories around the same time. Lets recap!

In January, February, March, April 2013, Karnivool holed up in 301 Studios in Byron Bay with producer Nick Didia (Mastodon, Rage Against the Machine) and recorded the follow up to their critically acclaimed, internationally released and gold selling “Sound Awake”, an album that put the band on the map internationally and saw them touring the world for several years.

The first taste of the album was the sonic mugging that was “The Refusal” that the band gave away to thank people for their patience. Shortly thereafter the first single “We Are” was released to much acclaim, with the Chris Frey directed and somewhat disturbing video seeing 250,000 eyeballs in a month on YouTube, no mean feat. The band then jetted off to Europe to play on some of the biggest stages in the world on the European festival circuit, including Download, Sonisphere, Greenfields, Hurricane and Southside as well as a sublime headline show in Budapest to 1500 new friends next to the flooding Danube. Box ticked!

Now the band are back in Australia, and the album is out on this Friday July 19th, and the reviews are flooding in. In auspicious timing the band’s first album “Themata” was just certified Gold. “Asymmetry” is album of the week on Triple J as well as being featured on the Triple M networks Rock Show. It’s all very bloody exciting and Karnivool would like you all to share in that excitement with them.

Look out for the deluxe edition of “Asymmetry” which is available for a strictly limited time and includes a live DVD in custom designed, fold-out packaging featuring a full concert “Live at the Forum” filmed in Melbourne.

What the media are saying about ‘Asymmetry”

“Majestic..Mezmerising….a highly accomplished piece of work on a par with much of the output surfacing in the increasingly fertile overseas progressive scene, buoyed by impressively technical, world class musicianship”. 4 stars – Rolling Stone magazine

“One of the most exciting progressive alt-rock bands to emerge in years.” 5 stars – Total Guitar (UK)

“Asymmetry literally takes what we know from Karnivool – the Tool influenced soundscapes, throbbing metal riffs and fantastic structural passages – and kicks them up a notch. Way up a notch. I can honestly say that this is one of the best Karnivool releases that I’ve ever heard and that’s saying a great deal. 4 1/2 stars New Noise Magazine.” (US)
