Ahead of the annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout tonight, RACT Chief Executive Officer, Harvey Lennon has thanked the staff of the RACT across Tasmania for their enthusiastic fundraising activities and moral support.
The Sleepout is a national fundraising effort undertaken by the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help people experiencing homelessness. More than 50 Tasmanian corporate and community leaders will spend a night at Aurora Stadium to demonstrate support for the Vinnies campaign.
Mr Lennon said the light-hearted competition among participants on the Sleepout Fundraising Leaderboard had ensured a good number of donations – and that staff support had been critical to his own fundraising.
“I decided to sleep rough for a night again this year and our people have joined in to barrack for me by fundraising. Their effort has been really humbling and I’m really proud of them,” he said.
“RACT staff members have raised thousands of dollars through activities they organised such as: a barbecue, a morning tea, soup and sandwich lunches at RACT House in Hobart, a cake stall in Burnie and a car washing day in Launceston.”
“And there’s still time to donate to support efforts to help homeless people in Tasmania,” Mr Lennon said.
