Three out of four Tasmanians believe that children, wherever possible, should be raised by their natural father and mother.
This is further compelling evidence that Tasmanians do not support same-sex marriage, said Mr Guy Barnett Spokesperson for the Save Marriage Coalition.
“Legalising same-sex marriage automatically denies a child the right to be raised by their natural father and mother.
Mums and Dads are both important but they are different. We must support mums and support dads. They both have a vital role to play.
The survey of 400 Tasmanians was conducted in the first week of May by Myriad Consulting. The survey results said 76% agreed and 15.8% disagreed that children wherever possible, should be raised by their natural father and mother.
The Labor/Green Tasmanian government says that same-sex marriage legislation is a priority but the Tasmanian people are saying it is not.
The same survey results showed that the legalising of same-sex marriage is one of the two least important of twelve issues (refer below).
The survey showed that nearly 2 out of 3 Tasmanians believed that marriage legislation should be left to the Commonwealth, with only 36% of those surveyed believing that Tasmania should go it alone and introduce our own legislation.
Any further push for same-sex marriage by this Labor/Green government or in the Legislative Council should now come to an end.
