I acknowledge the passing of the Honourable Michael Hodgman AM QC who served our country with distinction across two Parliaments over 43 years.

It is significant to note that members of the Hodgman family have been political servants of the people of Tasmania since Michael Hodgman’s great-great uncle entered the Tasmanian Parliament in 1900. Combined, the family will soon notch up a century of service between the Parliaments of Tasmania and Australia, with Michael’s son Will Hodgman, who is the Leader of the Liberal Party in Tasmania.

Michael Hodgman served this Parliament in Canberra between 1975 and 1987, including as a Minister in the Fraser Government from 1980 to 1983.

Michael Hodgman was proud of his family, proud of his state and proud of the Parliaments he so honourably served.
