Hobart, 14 May 2013: This year the MyState Foundation is encouraging Tasmanians involved
in youth-focused community groups to apply for grants of up to $10,000.

“The MyState Foundation has meant everything to this organisation. Indy has brought joy to the whole
group.” Nicky Le Fevre of the Kalang Riding for the Disabled Association is referring to the horse the
group purchased with their MyState Foundation grant in 2008. Indy is a favourite amongst riders and
instructors alike and has provided the club with many hours of lessons cherished by local community
members affected by various kinds of disability.

Now in its 12th year, The MyState Foundation grant program has provided a total of $1,140,246 to
local community groups who support, educate and empower the youth of Tasmania. Previously grants
up to $5,000 have been available but this year, eligible applicants are being encouraged to apply for
up to $10,000. This increase has been applied within the program to ensure those programs most
likely to creative positive opportunities for Tasmania’s youth are provided the appropriate level of
support to be able to do so.

Tim Rutherford, MyState Chief Operating Officer said “The MyState Foundation invests in young
Tasmanians through the grants program and considers them the future custodians of the State.

Tasmania’s youth will be the ones that influence and set the future direction of our State and the
Foundation believes investing in their capability will enrich our community.”

Barbara Walters of Whitelion claims the grant program has helped Whitelion deliver their successful
Youth Mentoring Program for the last 6 years. “The MyState Foundation has enabled us to recruit and
train our volunteers that mentor young people, a significant part of our program”, she said. Whitelion
works with 150 young Tasmanians to help them make better choices and prepare themselves for the
challenges of adulthood.

Ms Walters claims applying for a MyState Foundation grant is easy. She said “it’s a simple no-fuss
process to fill out a grant application so I’d encourage those eligible to apply”. Applicant guidelines
and application forms are both available now at mystate.com.au/foundation

MyState Foundation grants are now open and close next Friday, 24th May.

Applicants must be an ATO registered Deductible Gift Recipient, have an ABN and be an
