Posted on

Emerging artists across Australia have until Friday May 10 to enter the churchie national emerging art prize 2013.

Gaining an enviable reputation over the last 26 years for talent-spotting breakthrough emerging artists, ‘the churchie’ offers the overall winner a non-acquisitive cash prize of $15,000, donated by prize money sponsor, Brand+Slater Architects.

This national competition is open to emerging artists with or without specialised training in their field, who are at an early stage of their careers, are Australian citizens or residents, and are aged 18 years and older.

Entrants vying for the 2013 prize can submit up to three works, completed in the 12 months prior to 4 March 2013, for an entry fee is $35.

Entries are made online at www.churchieemergingart.com and must be submitted by midnight on May 10. Artists simply register their application and upload images of their artwork.

On May 27 the finalists will be advised of their selection for ‘the churchie’ exhibition, which runs for eight weeks, from July 12 to September 7 at the Griffith University Art Gallery (GUAG) at South Bank in Brisbane.

The overall winner of ‘the churchie’ will be announced at the official opening and prize announcement reception at GUAG on Friday July 26.
