RETRO NOSTALGIC TREND COMES ALIVE AT SWING DANCE PARTY

Lovers of Retro style and stories can fully indulge their nostalgic inclinations this week, with Live! At the
Riviera opening as part of Ten Days on the Island.

A swing dance party that will emulate the Vegas, Rat-Pack vibe in a brassy, big-voiced environment,
Live! At the Riviera will offer participants the complete 1940s big band night out experience.

Ten Days on the Island Artistic Director Jo Duffy said the show picks up where Instagram leaves off.

“The proliferation of Retro images that are posted every day with Instagram tells us that nostalgia and
love of Retro style is a big trend at the moment,” Ms Duffy said.

“This show will appeal to many people – it’s for people who love the big band sound, people who are
nostalgic for Retro style, people who love to get out and dance, and people who want to throw off the
pall of economic gloom that has been such a big part of the news in Tasmania over the past year.

“There will be swing dancers, sizzling vocals from some of Tasmania’s best voices and a 17-piece big band
creating a jazzy, party vibe where everyone can really let their hair down.

“And you don’t have to be able to dance, because ticket holders are entitled to receive a free
introductory dance lesson before the show.”

Live! At the Riviera is a modern day plunge into the period of jitterbug and jive, and will be held at Wrest
Point from 21 – 23 March.

Ten Days on the Island runs from 15 – 24 March 2013, and all programming, venue and ticketing
information is now available at tendaysontheisland.com
