The swords will be out this Valentine’s Day, as Champagne Dame Kyla Kirkpatrick gives loved-up Tasmanian
couples the chance to experience first-hand the romance of champagne and a dramatic Sabrage demonstration.

In a Tasmanian first the Champagne Dame is hosting a Champagne Master Class including a Sabrage
demonstration –the ancient art of opening a champagne bottle with a sword.

“Performing such an ancient tradition adds an exciting element to the Valentine’s Day experience I provide and is
also visually stunning,” Ms Kirkpatrick said.

“The Master Class is great for couples and as champagne has fuelled many love stories over the years and I
thought the people of Hobart deserved a taste of how spectacular the art and history of champagne really is.

“This sword technique dates back to the French Revolution and will hopefully create a very romantic experience
on Valentine’s Day.”

The official Champagne Master Class will be held at MONA on Thursday, 14 February 2013, from 6:30-8:00pm.
