Member for Pembroke and cycling enthusiast Vanessa Goodwin MLC is set to ride in her fourth
PolliePedal for Diabetes Tasmania later this month, motivating a dedicated member of her staff
to volunteer.
The annual three-day road cycling PolliePedal visits local communities around Tasmania each
year, promoting healthy lifestyles and raising funds to support vital Diabetes Tasmania services.
Ms Goodwin has become one of the most loyal participants in the event.
“It is my pleasure to support Diabetes Tasmania and the important work they do to promote
healthy lifestyles,” Ms Goodwin said.
“The PolliePedal event is a fantastic way to connect with local communities in Tasmania and
educate people about the importance of good nutrition and regular exercise.”
Former Senator Guy Barnett, who is the Ambassador for Diabetes Tasmania and Diabetes
Australia, co-founded the PolliePedal event in 2006.
“Vanessa has become a very committed participant in PolliePedal and a great supporter of
Diabetes Tasmania,” Mr Barnett said.
“It is heartening to see that her devotion to this important cause has inspired one of her own
staff to volunteer at the event.”
Twenty-three cyclists will take part in PolliePedal’13, departing from Cambridge on Friday 22nd
February. The group will ride for three days taking in the Tasman Peninsula, South Arm, Hobart,
Longley, Bridgewater and Bellerive.
