Tasmanian Independent Retailers, in conjunction with IGA supermarket retailers statewide,
has donated $30,000 in IGA grocery vouchers to those in fire affected communities and is
encouraging other Tasmanian businesses to do anything they can to assist.

Tasmanian Independent Retailers CEO Grant Hinchcliffe today announced the donation,
which will be given to the St Vincent de Paul Society to be distributed to people who have
been affected by the devastating bushfires.

Mr Hinchcliffe said that in times of emergency such as this, it was important for Tasmanian
businesses, where possible, to rally and show their support to those in need.

“The IGA retailer network feels very strongly about helping their local communities in times
of need and donations continue to flow in from the 86 individual stores around the state,” Mr
Hinchcliffe said.

“Additionally, two pallets of bottled water will be donated to the Tasmanian Fire Service to
assist fire fighters who are aggressively fighting the fires on the front line.

“I strongly urge other businesses to support affected communities by contributing to the fire
appeal and assisting where possible”.
