Two Cradle Mountain Canyons’ clients jumping off Freestyle falls, Dove Canyon
Award-winning Tasmanian business Cradle Mountain Canyons is looking for an adventurous couple to get married in the heart of Dove Canyon at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania in a wilderness wedding that will be officiated by adventure guide, registered marriage celebrant and business co-owner, Anthony O’Hern.
The business, now in its third year of operation, is running an online competition and will offer the winning couple the chance to say ‘I do’ at the top of a seven metre high waterfall, before leaping together off the waterfall and into marital bliss.
To win the canyon wedding the couple must produce a short film, of maximum 1 minute duration, on the theme ‘love in the wilderness’. Whichever film gets the most ‘likes’ on Youtube will be declared the winner. The winner will be announced at the end of April 2013, with the wedding to be held any time between November 2013 and April 2014.
Mr O’Hern believes the canyon is the perfect place for a wedding.
“The Dove Canyon has all the splendour of a grand cathedral. It will be a very special and memorable way for two people to commit to spend the rest of their lives together, while having an adventure with 10 of their closest friends and family,” Mr O’Hern said.

Cradle Mountain Canyons is the first business in Tasmania to offer guided canyoning tours. The business, which began operations in December 2010, won the Tour Operator Category at the Cradle Coast Tourism Awards after each of its first two seasons and was a finalist at the recent Tasmanian Tourism Awards. Canyoning involves negotiating a steep sided river by whatever means necessary. On Cradle Mountain Canyons’ Tours, participants abseil, jump off waterfalls and slide down natural waterslides on their journey through the Dove Canyon.
