It’s taken a day, but the Government has fired up about the hemp raised in estimates by Senator Richard Colbeck.
Senator Colbeck asked about the product listed in the Failing Food Report as part of Biosecurity Food section of estimates.
But the Government drew a blank, taking the matter on notice.
This afternoon, the Government disclosed the product was a so-called superfood cereal.
It was produced by the US company, LivingIntentions, and clearly labelled ‘Hemp and Greens’.
The company’s website says: “Rock out to a new breakfast cereal enhanced with hemp protein, spirulina, chlorella, alfalfa and dandelion greens.” (http://livesuperfoods.com/hemp-and-greens-superfood-cereal.html)
Senator Colbeck said: “Full credit to the staff who picked up on the product.
“We are still waiting to find out how much came in to Australia and where it ended up.”
