By popular demand! One-day poetry workshop, Devonport
Outstanding poet to teach in Devonport: Gina Mercer, Sunday 19 August
10am to 4pm, Sunday 19 August: The Miracle in the Puddle – A one day poetry workshop with Gina Mercer
Gina Mercer is a widely published, award-winning poet as well as a highly experienced teacher. In this one day workshop you will be able to:
• experience the joy of playing with words;
• read and discuss a variety of poetry;
• discover the miracle in the puddle;
• write new and surprising poems.
This workshop will extend your writing practice in unexpected ways. It will focus on both the wonderfully messy act of writing a poem as well as developing a deeper understanding of craft and technique.
Gina’s style of teaching is relaxed, flexible and well-organised. She has a capacity to create a non-judgemental, encouraging atmosphere where risk-taking is welcomed. This session is open to new writers of poetry as well as more experienced writers. Participants report that they find her workshops stimulating and engaging.
So, what does your poetry need right now? Treat yourself to some dedicated time to focus on playing with words (it’s what poets do best, after all).
Fee: $77 for Writers’ Centre members & TATE members; $110 for non-members. Anyone is welcome to join as a member from $25.
