The lack of a Blueprint to increase Tasmania’s prosperity has been a major hindrance, causing
the State to fall behind other states and territories, according to Australia’s property industry
leader.
Speaking at the Make Tasmania Work Conference, Chief Executive of the Property Council Peter
Verwer called on all Tasmanians to have their say on the development of the Tasmania
Blueprint.
“The net result of not having a blueprint and associated goals for successes has meant Tasmania
is falling behind,” Mr Verwer said.
“While Tasmania has many plans and reviews floating around, the lack of one concise goaloriented
blueprint that looks at all facets of life is an impediment to prosperity.
“Add to this the fact that Tasmania has the largest ageing population in Australia and a constant
flow of young people leaving and it’s no wonder the economy is struggling.
“Tasmania has tremendous opportunities and many fantastic assets, which is even more reason
why a blueprint for the State to move forward to success is vital.
“We need to work together to make Tasmania affordable, a great place to raise children and to
live and work as well as to invest.”
