Senator Bob Brown launches a new book about d’Entrecasteaux’s encounter with Tasmanian Aborigines at Fullers Bookshop, Sunday, March 11, 2pm
Senator Bob Brown, the leader of the Australian Greens Party will launch a new book about the encounter of early French explorer, Bruny d’Entrecasteaux and the aboriginal people of Tasmania at 2pm on Sunday, March 11 at Fullers Bookshop.
The book Bruny d’Entrecasteaux and his encounter with Tasmanian Aborigines from Provence to Recherche Bay is written by anthropologist, Dianne Johnson, whose recent work includes seminal material regarding Aboriginal astronomies.
Johnson won the 2008 NSW Premier’s History Prize for her work Sacred Waters: The Story of the Blue Mountains Gully Traditional Owners.
As part of the event the Tasmanian Land Conservancy will present Fullers Bookshop with a framed photograph of Skullbone Plains, which Fullers customers have actively helped to protect with their donations.
Fullers customers have provided $75 000 in donations to the Tasmanian Land Conservancy since 2003.
All are welcome to attend this free event.
