The Huon region will be showcased to the nation on primetime television when the popular weight
loss show Excess Baggage goes to air tonight.

The show visited the Huon region as part of a number of challenges undertaken in Tasmania and the
contestants were put through their paces at Huon Aquaculture’s salmon farm.

Huon Aquaculture Group Director Frances Bender said it was a thrill to be involved in what was such
a big production.

“The amount of people we had on the farm was astonishing and it was a real buzz for the staff to be
able to see how it all worked behind the scenes,” said Ms Bender.

“We were all there for the whole day of filming and thankfully given salmon is considered a super
food the contestants and crew were able to sample our products after a hard day of filming.

“From what we saw out on the water it should be a very funny episode but we can’t give too much

Ms Bender said the stars of the show, including Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline, were
very accommodating and took time out to talk to staff during the day.

“These reality TV shows obviously only show snapshots of people’s personalities under extreme
pressure,” said Ms Bender.

“They were lovely to deal with when they visited the farm with many remarking that they would like
to bring the kids back for a look in the future.”

Excess Baggage pits teams of celebrities and everyday Australians against each other in a show that
focuses on losing weight in a healthy way.

It screens on Channel Nine’s GO! Network around the country every evening at 7pm.
