The Jordan River Service Inc (Gagebrook and Bridgewater Community Centres) has been successful in receiving funding to purchase twenty new computers from the ANZ Bank and FRRR (Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal) Seeds of Renewal Programme 2011 – Creating education and employment opportunities to help build thriving communities.
On Wednesday the 7th December at 10.30 am at the Gagebrook Community Centre 191 Lamprill Circle, Chris Sparks (ANZ Regional Executive) will be presenting the cheque and a commemorative plaque recognising the project.
The New Beginnings project will enable the Jordan River Service Inc. to purchase new computers to replace our existing ones which are 10 years old. Both the Gagebrook and Bridgewater Community Centres have had an increase in community members needing to utilise computers for a number of reasons including, online training, Centrelink, resume and job applications, job searches etc.
Bridgewater and Gagebrook have high unemployment levels and low education standards and our centres endeavour at all times to assist in addressing these issues. Computer ownership and Internet access is very low in this area.
