2011 Glenorchy Carols by Candlelight

Organisers of this year’s Glenorchy Carols by Candlelight are putting the final touches to a terrific line up of performers for their December 10th event at beautiful Tolosa Park.

Patrons are invited to park on site, stretch out and enjoy a relaxed community concert of carols – hosted this year by media personality and 936 ABC Breakfast presenter Ryk Goddard.

‘For me Carols by Candlelight means being able to get together with friends and family, light those candles and just sing!’ says Mr Goddard.

‘Glenorchy Carols puts together a great program with plenty of opportunities to enjoy all those classic carols. I’m really looking forward to it.’

More than 8 local choirs will be featured, including The Choir of High Hopes, Hobart; the hugely popular Tasmanian African Choir; The award winning Australian Rosny Children’s Choir and performances by students from St Mary’s College Senior Choir, Dominic College, Springfield Gardens Primary School Choir and Moonah Primary School. Concert regulars the Glenorchy City Concert Brass and the Tasmanian Song Company will complete the evening.

Families with young children can enjoy the special children’s entertainment by Makebelieve Entertainment, Kickit Danceworld and of course a visit by Santa.

The Tolosa Park gates will open for the Concert from 6pm, with a full program of carols running from 7.30pm to 10pm. The event offers extensive onsite parking as well as shuttle buses from the Glenorchy Bus Interchange from 6pm returning 10pm.

The 2011 Carols by Candlelight is brought to you by Glenorchy City Council and the Lions Club of Glenorchy, with our major sponsor, The Bendigo Bank.

You can follow all the final preparations for the event on Facebook at Glenorchy Carols.
