Candidate for HCC council elections Dean Charles Parry today issued the following statement.

“It is appalling that the outgoing Hobart City Council should have imposed a 7% increase in rates on top of the recent valuation on our properties.

It is time to get ‘back to basics’.

I am concerned by council waste and our limited capacity to pay for it.

We must not give the incoming council ‘carte blanche’ to waste on loony, expensive, pie in the sky schemes.
If we get back to basics we can put the brakes on rates.
One cannot be blamed for harbouring suspicions that these populist, half baked schemes are promoted by sitting members to aid and abet their re-election.
These ‘election toys’ would put further strain on our ability to pay
the 7% increase we are all struggling to pay along with other increased costs council have imposed on us!
It is time that council waste is reined in our priorities are put in order.
Let us get back to basics!”
