Its official – the team from Domino’s Sorell are the fastest and most proficient pizza makers in all of Australia and New Zealand for the second year in a row. The team of four triumphed over 500 other Domino’s stores to take the title of 2011 Australia and New Zealand Pizza Making Champions.

The Domino’s Sorell team, consisting of Franchisee Amy Cobley, Lisa Kluver, Mathew Kluver and Stephen Mitchell made six pizzas in just 61 seconds during the pizza making finals held in Brisbane earlier this week.

During the competition, each team of four pizza makers made six pizzas to strict specifications. The 6 finalists were judged on their pizza-making speed, their adherence to topping requirements, overall pizza quality and appearance.

This high-energy pizza making competition was held during the annual Domino’s National Rally in Brisbane, Queensland.

Team coach Mat Kluver said that the Sorell team faced stiff competition from close runners up Wyalla (QLD), Atkinvale (QLD) and Westridge (QLD).

“The Sorell team were the only finalists not from a Queensland store, it felt good to take out the title and show everyone that the Sorell team have what it takes to become Australia’s fastest pizza makers,” Mat said.

“The sauce and toppings were flying thick and fast during the pizza making competition where the Sorell team triumphed proving we are the best of the best!”

Domino’s Sorell owner and operators Amy and John Cobley said they are thrilled their team took out the 2011 Australia and New Zealand Pizza Making Championships once again.

“Being crowned Australia’s Fastest Pizza Makers for the second year in a row is a huge honour! It really reinforces that fact that our team at Sorell are making the best looking and tasting pizzas, faster then any other Domino’s store in Australia & New Zealand,” Amy said.

“Our team were very determined to win, showing their dedication by training almost daily for weeks prior to the Championships.”

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd and its franchisees have 522 stores across Australia and New Zealand, employing more than 14,000 part-time and full-time staff and making more than 50 million pizzas each year.
