Testing teens? Professionals prep parents

Posted on

Professionals who work with families with teens will learn useful strategies to pass on to parents when they attend Parentshop’s one-day Engaging Adolescents training in Hobart on Wednesday 13 July.

Participants learn which behaviour needs to be ignored, how to coach teenagers to consider the consequences of their actions and how to hold difficult conversations when agreements are breached. Once trained in Engaging Adolescents, family and youth professionals can run parent groups or train parents one-to-one in this effective and easy-to-use program. For details, go to the Practitioner Training Page at www.parentshop.com.au or call 1300 738 278.

A previous participant said:
“I would highly recommend this course, it was informative and empowering. As a parent it made me feel I was ‘doing a good job’ and as a professional it made me more able to pass on the knowledge I had already, as well as all the new skills learnt today.”

Each participant will receive a comprehensive training manual with session-by-session guidelines and a CD slideshow to aid their presentation to parents.

This course may be of interest to counsellors, school counsellors family workers, psychologists, teachers, school executives, nurses and other professionals who work with youth and families. All professionals who work with youth and families are welcome to attend.

COST: Early-bird fee: $349 if booked and paid by the early-bird date. Full fee: $449. Book early to avoid disappointment.
