SOUTHERN WATER ALERTS CUSTOMERS ON BOGUS VISITS

Posted on

Southern Water today issued a warning to customers to be wary of people on private property claiming to be from Southern Water but failing to display appropriate identification.

Southern Water said a customer reported that a man and a woman entered the rear of her property in the Howrah area without permission and claimed to represent Southern Water. When asked to display identification, the visitors left the property.

In both the normal course of its work and as part of the Water Metering Project, all of Southern Water’s personnel are required to carry and produce identification when approaching customers at their property.

Customers are encouraged to verify the identity of any callers claiming to represent Southern Water. This can be done by asking to view identification and/or contacting the Customer Service Centre on 13 MYWATER (13 6992).
