Sam McQuestin today released his TV ad that will commence airing tonight and reinforces the key election choice.
“This Saturday’s Legislative Council election for the seat of Launceston is an opportunity for Launceston residents to send the Labor-Green Government a stong and clear message that their broken promises and failure to deliver are not acceptable,” Sam McQuestin said.
“Recent elections have shown that a vote for independents can just end up being a vote for Labor and the Greens so a strong and clear message can only be sent by voting Liberal.
“The Labor-Green Government is Hobart centric and out of touch with the needs of Launceston and its broken promises have directly impacted on Launceston residents,” Sam McQuestin said.
Just some of their broken promises affecting Launceston include:
· Failure to provide promised funding the LGH;
· Failure to commence the dredging of the Tamar River;
· Failure to get Police out of the courts and on the beat;
· Failure to ease the cost of living by capping power prices;
· and Failure to rollout gas to 100,000 households including all areas of Launceston;
“On top of these, and because of their own mismanagement, the Labor-Green Government is about to inflict severe budget cuts that will have negative consequences for frontline services in Launceston such as cutting police numbers when there is already a shortage of police to deal with local crime.
“There has never been a more important time to keep Launceston strong.
“If you want the Labor-Green Government to hear the anger of the Launceston community then it is important to send a strong and clear message.
“Experience of recent elections has shown that a vote for independents can just end up being a vote for Labor and the Greens meaning that it would be business as usual for the Labor-Green Government.
“If you really want the Labor-Green Government to take notice then the best way to achieve this is to vote Liberal.
“Only a vote for the Liberal Party will ensure there is no confusion in the message you send to the Labor-Green Government.”
• Strong Support for V8 Supercars
Liberal Candidate for the Legislative Council Division of Launceston Sam McQuestin has today started collating hundreds of signatures from Petitions he has circulated in support of the V8 Supercars at Symmons Plains.
Sam McQuestin will today be presented with a number of Petitions by local motorsports enthusiast Ms Cynthia Clements outside the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania.
Sam will also be joined by Multiple Targa champion and Motorsports commentator Barry Oliver and Tourism operator and Launceston Alderman who support the need to retain the V8 Supercars at Symmons Plains beyond this year.
Sam McQuestin recently launched the Petition calling in the Labor-Green Government to immediately guarantee that funding will be available for the V8 Supercars into the future.
“The V8 Supercars at Symmons Plains provides a massive economic boost to the whole of Tasmania and it would be an unmitigated disaster to lose the event,” Sam McQuestin said.
“The Petition calls on the Labor-Green Government to immediately guarantee the necessary funding for the future of the V8 Supercars to end the uncertainty around the event in future years.”
Sam McQuestin said he began circulating the Petition in the local community, and at the recent Longford Revival Festival.
Cynthia Clements approached me about assisting in circulating the Petition and she has done a tremendous job in getting signatures in support of this important cause.
Sam McQuestin said regardless of the election outcome, if a decision on funding is not made beforehand I will also circulate the Petition at what could be the last V8 Supercars event later this year.
