Liberal Party Tasmania – Resignation of State Director

Posted on

Mr Jonathan Hawkes, the State Director of the Liberal Party of Australia – Tasmanian Division, has today (Friday) announced his resignation.

Mr Hawkes, who has been State Director for 3 years, leaves to take up a senior position with the Liberal Party in Canberra next month.

State President Mr Richard Chugg said the Liberal Party wishes Mr Hawkes well and looks forward to continuing to work with him in his new federal role.

“Mr Hawkes has worked very effectively for the Party and has continued the gains the Party has made in recent times”, Mr Chugg said.

“Mr Hawkes ran the 2010 state campaign that saw a greater than 7% swing to the Tasmanian Liberals – which saw our Party becoming the most popular political Party in Tasmania.

“While State Director, the Party also won its first Legislative Council seat.

“He has worked closely with all elements of the Party and we are a stronger party for his leadership”.

The Party in Tasmania will now commence its process for appointing a new State Director, who will be charged with guiding the Party’s next State and Federal Election campaigns.

“The Party’s goal continues to be delivering a majority State Liberal Government under Will Hodgman, and winning key seats at the federal election”, Mr Chugg said.
