COST OF LIVING THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE FOR LAUNCESTON RESIDENTS
23 March 2011
The Tasmanian Liberals’ candidate for the Legislative Council seat of Launceston, Sam McQuestin, today joined the Opposition Leader Will Hodgman to announce the results of Mr McQuestin’s survey of the electorate.
“I surveyed more than one thousand people right across the seat of Launceston, from Prospect to Norwood, Hadpsen to Youngtown about what concerned them the most. The issue that came up time and time again was the soaring cost of living,” Mr McQuestin said.
“In fact, a third of the people I surveyed said the soaring cost of living was their number one issue – something that the Labor-Green Government has continued to ignore.”
“Mr Hodgman and his Liberal team in Parliament have introduced a number of bills to reduce the cost of living, including legislation to allow people to choose an electricity provider who can provide them with a better price.”
“I am working hard to win the support of Launceston’s residents so I have the chance to be elected on May 7th and join Mr Hodgman’s strong team, who are the only party in Tasmania with positive initiatives that can reduce the cost of living and help our small businesses.”
“I have spoken with thousands of residents in recent weeks and I’ll continue to fight for Launceston and the issues that matter to its residents,” Mr McQuestin said. Mr Hodgman and Mr McQuestin released the survey results today at Prospect Vale Marketplace.
