Cultural funding closing soon

Posted on

Tasmanian artists and art makers have until 16 March to lodge applications for assistance from the Commonwealth Government’s Regional Arts Fund.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for eligible projects that foster arts and cultural activities in regional communities in Tasmania. Applicants with projects that involve partnerships and collaborations and that work towards longer term community or artistic benefits are particularly encouraged to apply.

Tasmanian Regional Arts Executive Director Paul Jenkins said that the Fund was a useful and relevant program from which to seek support as it focused on regional rural and remote arts activities – many of which often miss out on programs that also support larger urban communities’ arts activities.

‘The Regional Arts Fund has supported projects on King and Flinders Island and assisted artists working on projects from Queenstown right across to the East Coast. While many of the grants are smaller, the projects themselves often generate significant support and funding or sponsorships that allow great arts activities to take place in regional centres ‘ .

“And of course these projects not only showcase the quality of artwork generated from regional communities, applications quite often also demonstrate a significant level of in kind and community support for the project” added Mr Jenkins.

Tasmanian Regional Arts manages the Regional Arts Fund on behalf of the Commonwealth Government and can provide advice and assistance to potential applicants in order to maximise the success of any proposal.

Application forms and an information pack are available online at www.tasregionalarts.org.au . To seek advice on your projects eligibility, contact TRA’s Latrobe Office on 6426 2344.
