National Portrait Gallery Chief Patron announced
The Prime Minister’s Office and the National Portrait Gallery are pleased to confirm Mr Tim Mathieson as the new Chief Patron of the National Portrait Gallery.
The Gallery seeks to inspire all Australians to discover the development of our great country through the endeavours of the subjects represented. The profile of the Chief Patron is one which is supportive of the Gallery and its broad aims and represents the interests of the Gallery.
Traditionally, the National Portrait Gallery invites the partner of the incumbent Prime Minister to be Chief Patron of the Gallery. It is an honorary position of advocate to promote the significance and importance of the Gallery both nationally and internationally.
The Gallery is committed to improving access to and providing information about the collection which tells the story of what it is to be Australian; its identity, creativity, culture and history.
