The Tidal award is hosted by the Devonport Regional Gallery and funded through the Devonport City Council and the DRG Friends Committee. The national award is open to artists whose 2D work in any medium, represents a response to our contemporary relationship and connection to the sea, coastal regions and communities.
The Award aims to showcase the work of contemporary Australian artists whose work addresses political, social or environmental issues related to ‘tidal’. The Award encourages experimentation and ingenuity with concepts, design and materials.
The biennial Major award has been increased from $10,000 to $15,000 and is now an acquisitive Award. The Award is funded by the Devonport City Council and the Friends Committee of the Devonport Regional Gallery. The Peoples’ Choice Award is valued at $1,000.
