The National Disability Coordination Program in Northern Tasmania along with the Uni Gym and a number of keen students from the Newstead Campus of Polytechnic have joined forces to bring together a jammed packed event at the UTAS Gym and surrounds, Newnham Campus this Friday from 11am to 2pm.

International Day of People with Disability was established in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly to promote awareness of the contributions and experiences of people with disability. It is celebrated worldwide on 3 December each year.

On this day, people with disability, non-government organisations, businesses, all levels of government and the wider community unite to celebrate the achievements of people with disability.

With one in five Australians experiencing some degree of disability, it is vital their achievements and contributions are promoted and acknowledged.

This Friday, there will be music, opportunities to try out the sports ability program, art on display, 7LA Roadrunner and lots more. We encourage schools, organisations, individuals and families to come and enjoy the day and experience some fun, free activities.

Photo opportunities:

Melissa Carlton OAM will launch the event at 11am.
Deputy Mayor, Alderman Frank Nott will also be in attendance.
