The Oaktree Foundation Tasmania Launch – ‘Real Change Before Breakfast’

Posted on

The Oaktree Foundation has arrived in Tasmania and they are inviting you to come and support Australia’s largest youth-run aid and development organisation at their launch.

On Wednesday November 24th from 7.15am-8.15am Oaktree Tasmania will be hosting its official launch, ‘Real Change Before Breakfast’. This event is designed to bring together supporters and Tasmanian community leaders to relive the changes made by previous generations of youth and celebrate the achievements of young Tasmanian leaders.

‘Many of the greatest historical leaders, such as William Wilberforce who led the movement to abolish slavery, did so in their youth. Young people can achieve great things. The youth of Tasmaniao have a lot to give and this is the purpose of the launch, to demonstrate the talent and the passion we have.’ Jess Jacobson, Tasmanian Director of the Oaktree Foundation, said.

‘The youth of Australia are currently at the forefront of the movement to end extreme poverty,’ she said.

Extreme poverty remains one of the most important, devastating and challenging issues of our generation. It is difficult to know how to address such an immense challenge, and easy to submit to feelings of powerlessness and inadequacy. In Australia, there are many people who genuinely want to create a better world, but still don’t believe they have the power to make change happen. They don’t know where to begin or they don’t know whether their
actions will have an impact.

The Oaktree Foundation, Australia’s largest youth-run aid and development organisation, aspires to change this. Since 2003, they have been inspiring young people to work together to end extreme poverty, and over the years we have created and implemented initiatives to raise awareness, educate, empower and motivate communities to improve their future.

Oaktree Tasmania is the Foundation’s newest official branch after successfully organising several events in 2010, including the Tasmanian Make Poverty History Road Trip and the Live Below the Line campaign. It is hoped that Oaktree Tasmania will reflect the Tasmanian community’s desire to end extreme poverty and support the development of young Tasmanian leaders.

All are welcome at the launch. A $15 donation to the Oaktree Foundation will provide attendees with a stand up breakfast and an inspirational morning where they will relive the changes made by generations past and celebrate the achievements of young Tasmanian leaders.
