James Boyce launches Making Their Own Way: The Dunbabins on Maria Island 1868-1876

James Boyce, winner of the Tasmanian Book Prize will launch a new book about Maria Island Making Their Own Way by Tom Dunbabin.
The launch is happening at Fullers Bookshop this Friday, October 15th at 6pm. It is a free event.
Tom is a direct descendant of brothers Tom and John Dunbabin who took up the challenge of farming Maria Island late in the 1800s.
Drawing on a treasure trove of letters writtern to and fromt he island this book provides a fascintating insight in to the lives of the brothers – their hopes, aspiration.
It also provides opportunity to reflect on the early years of colonial Tasmania.
Tom Dunbabin reveals his own love and fascination for the island that is an intrinsic part of family folklore.
