Joe Bageant, author of Deer Hunting For Jesus and more recently Rainbow Pie; A Redneck Memoir, will be talking one of America’s most taboo subjects, social class, at Fullers Bookshop on Monday August 30 at 6pm.

Bageant, who is a cult hero amongst gonzo-journalism junkies, has written about his redneck childhood with insight and aplomb.

In Hobart for only a short time, this is a fantastic opportunity to hear one of America’s edgier commentators speaking.

Bageant spends most of his time writing from Belize and Mexico where he also sponsors small health and shelter development projects.

He has recently been interviewed for a documentary that seeks to challenge the status quo. Documentary maker, MA Littler, says “I sought out contrary opinions ranging from the far left to the far right of the political spectrum, from the spiritual to the strictly secular and from the profound to the profane.”
