Prime Minister Julia Gillard is at Parliament House in Canberra ahead of visiting the Governor-General later this morning to call an election.
After spending the night in her electorate of Lalor in Melbourne, Ms Gillard touched down at Fairbairn Airbase in Canberra this morning.
She is now at Parliament House before heading to see Governor-General Quentin Bryce at 10.30am (AEST) to ask for the writs to be issued for an August 21 or 28 election.
