You Tell Us – What’s Tasmania’s Best New Architectural Project?
Tasmaniansare being asked to name their favourite – and the State’s‘best’- newarchitectural project in an inaugural ‘People’s Choice’Prize launched this weekby the Australian Institute of Architects’Tasmanian Chapter.
Startingfrom today, the Institute -with the support of the Hobart City Council, the Federal Group and the Mercury -is asking all Tasmanians interested in the built environment to log ontohttp://www.themercury.com.au/awards/awards.htmltocheck out this year’s entries in the 2010 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
Viewerscan see a range if images, plus information, on this year’s award entriesranging from private retreats on Bruny Island and at Rocky Hills to major educational facilities, restaurants in Hobart, and public projects such as Burnie Makers and the Launceston Regional Aquatic Centre.
Theycan then vote on their favourite project–placing themautomatically into a draw to win a PureTasmaniaholiday package for two people valued at over $2000.*
Theprize includes:
• Two nights for two atThe StrahanVillage; two buffet breakfasts in View 42 Restaurant; a bottle ofTasmanian wine plus a cheese platter;
• A night for two atFreycinet Lodge;two buffet breakfasts inRichardson’s Bistro; Flavours of the EastCoast food&wine tasting for two.
• A night for two atCradle MountainChateau; two buffet breakfasts in Quolls Dining Restaurant; bottle ofTasmanian wine&cheese platter.

Theproject with the most votes will be awarded thePeople’s Choice Prizeat theTasmanian Architecture Awards, being heldat the IXL Atrium inHobarton Saturday 19 June. The winner ofthe holiday package will be published on 20 June in the general notices sectionon theSunday Tasmanian,which willalso feature a special awards lift-out of all 2010 awards winners.
