STRATEGIC PLANNING FOCUS AT BEMP 2010
Coming together under the umbrella of the Built Environment Meets Parliament (BEMP), experts from the built environment industry, together with Australia’s Commonwealth Parliament, will explore how Australia’s capital city metro strategies measure up to COAG’s nine performance criteria.
This year’s summit, taking place on Wednesday, 16 June at Parliament House in Canberra, will focus on strategic planning for Australian cities now and for the future. The results of a ground-breaking capital city strategic plans audit, commissioned by the BEMP host organisations, will be released during the summit. The audit measures current major city strategic plans against COAG’s future capital city strategic planning criteria.
BEMP is a collaboration of leading built environment industry voices including; Consult Australia, the Australian Institute of Architects, the Green Building Council of Australia, the Planning Institute of Australia and the Property Council of Australia.
Preceding the BEMP summit, the 2010 Australia Award for Urban Design dinner and award presentation will take place on Tuesday, 15 June at the National Portrait Gallery Canberra. Prime Minister, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP is Patron of the award.
