PREMIER David Bartlett is expected to call the state election tomorrow with polling day March 20.
State cabinet will tick off the election timetable at a final meeting in Hobart today.
Tomorrow morning, the Government will formally secure an election date from Governor Peter Underwood.
Next, Mr Bartlett’s Government will go into caretaker mode.
That means no major decisions can be made during the campaign without consulting the other party leaders.
The imminent election campaign has left the Liberal Party in disarray in Bass after the dramatic decision by Opposition education spokeswoman Sue Napier to pull out of state politics on health grounds.
