Mitsubishi Paper consultation on controlled wood from Tasmania
Japan’s Mitsubishi Paper Mills (MPM) will undertake its second stakeholder consultation program as part of a verification process
for sourcing controlled wood from Tasmania in Hobart on the 1st of February.
MPM set the benchmark for stakeholder consultation in its first program conducted in December 2008.
Stakeholder consultation on threats to high conservation values (HCV) is required under the FSC standard for companies sourcing
controlled wood (FSC STD 40 005 V 2.1: Standard for Company Evaluation of Controlled Wood).
In accordance with the Controlled Wood Risk Assessment Matrix prepared by FSC Australia all companies sourcing controlled wood
in Australia are required to undertake a stakeholder consultation program on HCV.
Controlled wood is not FSC certified but any wood that is mixed with FSC certified wood in a ‘Mixed Sources’ labelled product
must comply with this standard.
It is designed to exclude ‘controversial sources’ from FSC labelled products.
Stakeholders interested in participating in this program can contact FSC Australia
