Liberal Senator Stephen Parry welcomed the news today that all five Tasmanian Liberal Senators will retain their leadership, parliamentary secretary and other key roles within the Coalition.
“I am pleased to remain a part of the Senate Leadership Group, which consists of Senators Nick Minchin, Eric Abetz and myself, and also with them a part of the Coalition Leadership Group with our senior House of Representatives colleagues,’’ he said.
“To have two Tasmanian Senators as part of the Opposition Senate Leadership Group is a boon for this State and gives a boost to our representation in Canberra that is the envy of other states.’’
In addition to this role, Senator Parry will also continue on in his substantive position as the Chief Opposition Whip in the Senate.
Senator Parry congratulated Senator Eric Abetz for his promotion to the portfolio of Employment and Workplace Relations within Cabinet, a job he will undertake in addition to his duties as Deputy Leader in the Senate.
Senator Parry said he was also pleased that Senators Colbeck, Bushby and Barnett have all retained their positions from before the reshuffle.
The Tasmanian Liberal Senate Team and their roles:
