Presentation of the Wildcare Tasmania Nature Writing Prize at Fullers Bookshop, 6pm tonight.

At 6pm tonight Peter Grant, essayist and nature writer and co-founder of the Wildcare Tasmania Nature Writing Prize, will formally award Maureen Harris this year’s prize.

Maureen Harris, is a poet and essayist based in Toronto, Canada.

Maureen’s essay, “Broken Mouth—Offerings for the Don River, Toronto”, was chosen from among 140 entries in this year’s prize.

The prize is a cheque for $5 000 as well return airfares to Tasmania, and a writer’s residency at Lake St Clair, which she recently completed.

Maureen will read a short piece from her work.

Bill Forsyth from Wildcare will also be present to introduce the evening.

Peter, Maureen and Bill will be available for interview and refreshments will be served.
