FORMER state Labor politician Kathryn Hay has abruptly pulled out of contesting next year’s March state election.
The late announcement yesterday raised suggestions Ms Hay wanted instead to chase the soon-to-be-vacated federal Labor seat in Bass.
Ms Hay, 34, yesterday blamed a medical condition for having to abandon her quest to become a state Labor MP again.
But her media statement last night by the Tasmanian Labor Party stated that the former Miss Australia “did not rule out” standing for Labor again.
Ms Hay said the muscular condition she experiences had recently deteriorated and she was unable to devote sufficient time and energy to campaigning for the March 20 election.
