Missing link will improve safety and reduce congestion
Government must reconsider its ill-informed opposition to this missing link.
Clarence Council has appointed surveyors to identify the road corridor for the missing link that will extend the Flagstaff Gully Road to Geilston Bay, providing a safe alternate route to the dangerous Begonia Road – Malunna Street inter-highway rat-run and reduce traffic congestion at the Eastern end of the Tasman Bridge.
On Alderman Tony Mulder’s motion, this missing link in a Lauderdale to Bowen Bridge Eastern Ring Road was identified as a council priority and consultants have suggested a number of possible corridors. Once these options are surveyed, the community will be consulted before road reservations are created on public and public and private land.
If elected to State Parliament, I will continue the fight to build this link road as part of a strategic Eastern Ring Road which will bring significant traffic and safety benefits to the Eastern Shore.
